28 Sleeps to go...

So, a friend of mine visited on Friday. We went shopping for the day, and I forgot about my VISA for about 2 hours...the one thing that has consumed my mind constantly for the past week. Every morning I wake up and wonder if today will be the day that the big red Royal Mail van will pull into my little Close, awkwardly turn around, stop right outside my drive, get out, walk up to my door and press the bell. Every day for a whole week I have been wondering this. I even contemplated making us stay in until 1 o'clock to make sure it wasn't going to come. But a girl can't live that way...just waiting all the time.

Driving back from our day out shopping and a brisk walk around the lake, I open the door, look down, and low and behold there sits the little red and white sheet of paper I knew would be there. I didn't even read it before I turn around to Tim, who hasn't even stepped in the door yet, give out a little scream and hug him!

The next 2 hours are painful. I have to wait until the traffic dies down enough to venture out of the house. I don't want to get stuck at the hell that is rush hour traffic at the Tesco's double round-a-bout. I sit down, have a few cups of tea (they always calm a situation down - how British I've become!) and then make my way to the Post Office office. In my haste I leave the house without directions...silly me! So I ring dad at the library, and then finally I get the envelope I've been waiting for...

Another page used in my passport :D :D :D

Some more information you might like to know:

While i am working in Korea I plan to go to the following places:
  • Taiwan
  • Japan
  • Hong Kong
  • China
  • Malaysia
  • Indonesia
You may think I won't find the time with only two weeks off a year, but I will find a way! I just can't let all those amazing places that are so close to me go to waste! Think about it! And that also means that by 2014 (when I need to get a new passport) I'll have filled all the pages in my passport!!! A dream I have had since I was a wee little girl in South Africa. So far in my current passport I have Visa's for South Africa, Indonesia and now South Korea. I'm starting to get very excited.

Other things you might like to know:
  • It appears that the Korean culture of drinking is very popular. It is rude and unkind not to accept a drink when offered, and you most certainly must go out for drinks with your coworkers! This for me may prove to be my downfall as I am very much a lightweight, and the mere whiff of a drink sends me on a two day hangover...so watch this space.
  • I have bought a couple of bags today, but they aren't quite what I'm looking for. I have found an amazing Animal 120L Wheeled Holdall, but is very expensive, and some people think too easily broken into.
  • I have toiletries, books, bedding, stationary, and most importantly stickers ready for packing.
  • There is currently a box of clothes that are being considered for packing, but need to check necklines and weight before deciding.
  • I've emailed a nice girl called Katie about my flights so I should find out about that this week :D Another impatient week I feel!
  • Shopping, shopping, and more shopping this week, while I buy walking boots, Birkenstocks, flights socks, t-shirts, and some other bits and pieces.
  • My emotions seem to be running on a high...everything is in the extreme. I am extremely nervous, excited, scared, expectant, etc...
Other things that have happened this week:
  • I had my second set of injections, which turned out to be much more painful than the 1st set, and has taken it's toll in slight flu like symptoms, but will be worth it!
  • I think I have sorted out the bones of my 1st weeks lesson plans...phew!
Right, this is very long, and rambly, so if you made it this far...WELL DONE!!!

Love to you all,
Kat xxx
